Elvis and family lived in the 1st floor apt at 462 Alabama Ave in Memphis from april 1953-november 1954. The rent was $50. The second floor was rented out by the Fruchter family. An orthodox Jewish family whom Elvis befriended. The head of the Fruchter family, Alfred, was a Rabbi. His wife was Jeannette. Their 2 kids, pictured with Elvis and his cousin Gene, are David and Debbie. Elvis also served as their shabbos goy. A non jewish person who performs certain tasks for jewish families that they arent allowed to do for themselves on shabbos (light a stove, turn light switches on and off, etc). It was while he was living at this address when he recorded at sun studios for the very first time in july 1953 and for the second time in January 1954.
