Elwin Royce Carroll, 82, of Meridian, passed away on August 11, 2014 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. He was born on October 18, 1931 to Edwin and Claudie (Williams) Carroll in Clarke County, MS. Mr. Carroll was Co-Owner of Carroll Welding Service. He grew and cooked sugar cane syrup for over 40 years. He was a devoted grandfather to three grandsons. Mr. Carroll attended New Home Primitive Baptist Church and Shady Grove Church of God. Elwin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ileen Anderson Carroll; son, Randy Elwin (Melanie) Carroll; daughters, Karen Carroll (Kevin) Williams and Tammy K. Carroll; grandsons, John Randall Carroll, Nathan David Carroll, and Justin Royce Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Claudie Carroll. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Wrights Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014, 1:00 pm at the Devo Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Hancock, officiating. Burial will take place in the Devo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Carroll, Tyler Carroll, Matt Hale, Adam Hale, Kevin Hale and Scott Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be his three grandsons, Hollis Carroll and Ricky Carroll.
