Email I just recived.... =================== Im so sorry to email you on a Sunday. I usually dont ever look at email at all on the weekends but this is a very rare exception for the following reason... Last year I gave a talk to my daughters first grade class on career day. I talked about building a life in pursuit of your dreams, doing what youre passionate about, being an entrepreneur. I talked about fighting for your dreams, persistence, and never giving up. As I went through my talk, in the back of the classroom, her teacher was clearly becoming emotional. She had a daughter who developed brain cancer as an infant, has had endless surgeries, and is now blind and wheelchair-bound. That requires more perseverance and persistence than even the most driven entrepreneurs will ever know. Her eyes watered up as I told my story, and I could hear her under her breath saying things like wow, wow... The next day I was at my daughters school again and her teacher saw me and walked over. She said that when she went home that night, she cried and cried and cried and had a long talk with her husband. She said she had decided that her dream has always been to sing but she had been letting that get away and settling on a job, which was no regular job because she was an absolutely amazing teacher. She said that she wouldnt be coming back the next year to teach anymore. She decided to quit and pursue her dream of singing. As I walked back to my car with tears in my eyes, overwhelmed by the impact my talk had made on someones life, I prayed to God that that woman could sing like an angel. Cause... You know.... So why did I HAVE TO email you this story, today, on a Sunday? ABC has a new American Idol meets The Voice kind of show called Rising Star with Josh Groban, Ludacris, Brad Paisley and Kesha. Guess who one of the singers was this past Sunday night, on national TV, singing her heart out for her daughter in front of millions of TV viewers across the country?!!!!!! Yep, my daughters teacher Ms. Hornsby who had the guts to quit and fight like hell for her dream. The good news is that she moved the audience and judges all to tears and then got voted through to the next round!!! Amazing! Tonight, in a few hours, she will be singing again live, battling for her singing career life, and for her daughter. So please watch rising star at 9:00pm on ABC tonight and be sure to vote and forward this to everyone you know, to vote for Karen Hornsby from Jacksonville, Florida tonight! Thanks! Jeff PS ...And if she never makes it past another round shell never have to live a life of regret, wondering what if I had tried... because shell know she actually went for it!
