Position Description Accountabilities Model and set the tone for exceptional customer relations Define and track critical success factors to be integrated into PES process Lead design team members and design phase services (i.e. estimating, scheduling, project planning, constructability, site utilization, etc.) for specific projects Lead the estimating team in translating customer desires into technical (design drawings, specifications and schedule) and financial cost documentation Facilitate the solicitation, selection, and contracting with designers for design build projects Develop and build relationships and networks with business partners including project developers, equipment vendors, end user decision makers, and design partners Identify new project opportunities while working with customers Lead design teams to facilitate designs which incorporate constructability and logistics solutions Translate the owners vision into design solutions and construction parameters Gains input from key stakeholders during the design process Identify Lean Design Delivery during the design management process Provide meaningful input to the projects programming and conceptual design activities Coordinate the integrated construction team to incorporate BIM/VDC technology into the project design phase. Develop and/or leads the preparation and presentation of project proposals Provide support to project leaders for project buyout Prepare bid packages/contract manuals for subcontractors and suppliers in conjunction with the project planning team Work closely with customers to identify and clarify most important factors to focus on to fully meet customer expectations Gain customer feedback on design proposals and key messages to convey during the customer interview process Manage costs throughout the design phase including estimate preparation, technical estimating, valued engineering, life-cycle cost analysis and budget and financial management Develop detailed project design phase and baseline construction schedules Conduct construction planning, including contract manual development, consultant, and subcontractor selection, MWD/BE participation, trade planning, site utilization planning, disruption avoidance planning, owner direct purchase planning, and lean construction delivery Ensure regulatory approvals are obtained Ensure risk management requirements are met for insurance, bonding, owner contract, and subcontractor T&Cs Set-up LEED tracking and analysis May provide design phase services on one to two projects simultaneously or one larger project Mentor Design Phase Engineers and encourage career development and growth Analyze and resolve work problems Demonstrated resource for valuing and promoting diversity Develop strategies to address underutilization and/or inclusiveness All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic 6 years previous experience required Four year college degree in one of the following: Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent High school diploma Computer skills in Microsoft Office Bottom line: Architects and/or architectural backgrounds are not wanted by those who now control the projects.
