Email message just out from Mike Wilson, Activities Director at Liberty Bell announcing cancellation of Week# 2 of football. the good news: Season starts Week #3: Greetings all~ I hope this finds you well. It has become official, the week 2 football game between the Mt. Lions and Concrete has been cancelled. As much as it pains me to cancel the game, ultimately, the decision came down to my duty to ensure the safety of our student athletes. We have 13 healthy, eligible players for week 2, 3 of which are inexperienced and need to evolve as football players before they attempt to play a whole varsity football game without substitution. The great news is that we have had a good number of new turn-outs now that school has started and the squad has swelled to 20+ young men. These new participants must meet practice requirements before they can play, and hence are not eligible until week #3. In light of this, The Liberty Bell Mountain Lion Football team should be strong with numbers as well as strong with heart come Sept 27th when they open their league play against Manson. I would like to thank you all for your understanding and support during this strange and difficult time for our football program. The young lads have been working hard, and will be rewarded with a league season in a couple of weeks. Again, my primary concern and duty is to ensure the safety and health of our students. The program will be in a much better space in 2 weeks. Hope to see you all out supporting all the fall programs soon.
