Embassy of India Riyadh October 8, 2014 Press Release India’s first Renewable Energy Global Investment Promotion Meet & Expo (REINVEST) is being organised from 15-17 February, 2015 in New Delhi with the aim to provide a platform to the global investment community to connect with stakeholders in India. A large exhibition of manufacturers, promoters and developers is also planned to showcase Indias manufacturing capabilities and latest technologies with an objective to showcase India as an investment destination for renewable energy sector and to encourage investors for setting up projects and manufacturing facilities in India. The Plenary Session is to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi and breakout sessions/exhibition will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) up to 100% is permitted under the automatic route in renewable energy generation and distribution projects. The other incentives to investors include financial and fiscal advantages, preferential tariff, transfer of foreign technologies etc. The Meet will highlight investment opportunities across key renewable energy sectors in India and Government’s initiatives on improving the enabling environment for investors. The Meet will serve as a global platform for mutual dialogue and interaction between captains of Indian industry; high level dignitaries and policymakers with investors and stakeholders. Over 200 global investors, financial institutions, renewable power developers and Indian banks & PSUs among other stakeholders are expected to participate in REINVEST. In addition to solar & wind sector, this Meet intends to bring in foreign investment in newer areas of renewable energy such as off-shore, hydrogen, bio-fuels and geo-thermal. With the renewed thrust to shift to renewables by tapping the enormous existing potential, Government of India intends to increase the grid connected renewable installed power capacity from 14660 MW at present to 55000 MW in 2017.
