Emenike Regains Fernebahce’s Trust -Arsenal Lead £15m Transfer Chase A new lease of life has come for previously out-of-favour Fernebahce of Turkey striker, Emmanuel Emenike, as the hitman has apparently regained the confidence of the club and looks good for a starter’s role in this weekend’s Super Lig fixture; even as Arsenal of England have intensified their interest in the star. The ray of hope for a return to relevance for Emenike at the Turkish club is coming from no less a person than his coach at Fenerbahce, İsmail Kartal is talking in glowing terms about the Super Eagles striker, ahead of the big Istanbul derby with Galatasaray on Saturday. This would be a welcome change of recent fortune for Emenike, who failed to score in his last three Lig games but Kartal has now stated that he is hopeful the all-action attacker will rediscover his scoring boots against Galatasaray. The Ferne gaffer disclosed that he had a heart-to-heart discussion with Emenike, before the former FC Cape Town of South Africa, Karabukspor of Turkey and Spartak Moscow of Russia striker joined the Eagles’ camp for their AFCON qualifiers against Sudan, and Kartal now believes the player’s worst moments are over. “You cannot play on the field as you want yourself, forget the last match. There is a very important derby in front of us. Show the real Emenike against Galatasaray. “We are in a position that we can do this and I expect it from everyone, especially you,” Kartal told leading Turkish portal, Fanatik. It is, however, left to be seen if the coach’s sweet words are coming early enough to ward off transfer interest from EPL giants, Arsenal in Emenike, who has scored 27 goals in Turkey’s top-flight, but none of them against Galatasaray. Despite investing over £50m in Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez during the summer, latest reports claim Arsenal are readying a £15m bid for Emenike. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer has been strongly linked with a move to the English Premier League for the best part of two years and popular British tabloid, The Metro now reports that a January move to Emirates Stadium is now very much in view. However, renewed confidence in the Nigerian striker, plus the fact that both Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are near to their return to action with Arsenal, after their respective injuries, could scupper interest from The Gunners in Emenike, who scored 12 goals in 28 matches and picked up nine assists last season.
