Emergency Response Programme Coordinator JOBfrom SOS Childrens Villages International Closing date: 31 Dec 2014 0 0 googleplus0 0 reddit0 0 SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organisation active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response. SOS CVI is currently engaged in more than twenty Emergency Response Programs including the Balkans, the Philippines, Central African Republic, Syria and Lebanon, alleviating the suffering and ensuring the development of vulnerable children and their care-givers. SOS Children’s Villages Palestine has two villages, one in Bethlehem and the other in Rafah, Gaza Strip. 283 children were helped during 2014 in both villages, including 8 youth houses. There are four youth houses in Bethlehem and four youth houses in Rafah. This year Family Strengthening in Bethlehem benefitted 230 families and 1,025 children , while Family Strengthening in Rafah benefitted 221 families including 314 caregivers, 956 children aged 0 -17 years and 85 children over 18. The organization SOS Palestine is currently seeking to appoint an Emergency Response Programme Coordinator to plan, implement, start-up and manage a multi-million euro emergency intervention in Gaza concerning alternative care for children who have lost parental care and support for families looking after children who have lost parental care. The Emergency Response Programme Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and management of the emergency programme in a high insecurity context. We are therefore looking for a dynamic individual who has ****extensive relevant experience in the field of humanitarian relief****, with relevant field experience in the Middle East and in conflict zones. This position is a non-accompanied position based in Gaza. ****Please note: this position involves international travel and therefore it is a prerequisite that the successful candidate be able to obtain a visa for travel to and from the Gaza Strip.**** Main responsibilities and tasks: Leading teams conduct needs assessments, rapid onsite assessments and exploration missions in the field Preparing concept notes, project proposals and reports for international donors, including institutional donors Accountable for reporting to the National Steering Committee of SOS Palestine (progress reports, financial status, and funding requirements); Mobilize the Programme team to initiate activities, including drafting TORs and work specifications; Manage and monitor security and safety of staff, assets and the Programme Prepare an annual work plan and strategic plan, as well as quarterly plans as and when required Participate in regular field coordination meetings with all technical Programme and project personnel, counterparts and stakeholders. build partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders to secure the sustainability of development interventions Recruiting and managing diverse teams Ensuring SOS CVI internal procedures and international standards are adhered to in all areas of operations, including SPHERE standards and the SOS CVI internal child protection policy Overseeing the financial management and control of programme spending, as well as preparing budget sheets and reports Developing and implementing efficient procurement and logistics procedures As security responsible, ensuring the safety and security of team members as well as material and assets of the emergency response programme Overseeing and aligning project activities to the needs on the ground Essential Experience: Minimum 2 years’ field experience as a programme manager/deputy head of mission/head of mission with an international humanitarian NGO; Field experience in project management; Field experience in an active conflict zone essential; Fluency in Arabic and English essential Desirable Experience: Experience working in child protection and/or with an NGO focussing on child rights a definite asset; Experience working in the MENA Region This position is a one-year renewable contract.
