Emerson update: Emerson was a trooper yesterday with her 7th EEG. The epileptic specialist said her EEG has improved quite a bit from her last EEG with less hypsarrthymia. This was definitely positive news! He recommended that we continue with the ACTH for 4 weeks at this dose and then wean. He feels like it is working for the infantile spasms related to the results of the EEG. Emerson will have a follow up EEG in 4 weeks and will see the epileptic specialist up in Minneapolis in 3 months to check her progress. Even though she continues to have a few (but far less) infantile spasms a day we have seen a definite difference in her just in the last few days. She is beginning to smile more, coo again and even laugh :) We are hopeful!
