****Emily Saieva #411 Final Update Of The Season!**** Tis the season…! the off season that is. It has been a long year racing in four different series to include the ATVA, WORCS, Quad-X and The Dirt Series. It didn’t start out so well with two broken wrists and it didn’t end so well with bike issues and Emily being sick but we had a great run in the middle. I think all the hard work, dedication and support by everyone involved shows in the results. Emily amassed a lot of trophies and two championships in 2013 but more importantly she gained some good friends and learned some valuable lessons. Now we are hard at work on the holidays. I have been told they are not work but a time for fun.. I must be doing something wrong, but seriously, Emily is already looking forward to next season, good thing because it is approaching fast. We start back up with WORCS in mid January. We would like to take this time to thank everyone who helped make this possible from all of great sponsors to even our competitors , yes competitors.. they loaned us equipment when we would not have been ridding at all and made racing fun. Happy Holidays… Fa la la la la, la la la la..! Below are the results, videos and photos from the final rounds and what Emily had to say about the races: - The Dirt Series Round 8, Milestone MX, Ca, 6 Oct 2013 90cc: 1st A video we made of Emily in action can be seen here: youtube/watch?v=0ddrN-6dK9c A promoter video of the race can be seen here: youtube/watch?v=0hpy8P4EQOk Round 8 was an interesting round... my motor seized in practice, which was pretty shocking considering we havent had any motor problems all season. After an entire day of thinking my race weekend was over, a miracle happened! I was borrowing a friends 70. The only problem with this was that I had 2 laps of practice, and I was on a bike that was set up totally different from mine. Once the gate dropped for Moto 1 we didnt get very far. The red flag was out before the green. There was a huge pileup on the first double. Luckily I was next to the crash not in it. Once I pulled off I realized how severe it really was. 2 girls were laying on the ground one of which was knocked out. Its pretty hard to focus on riding when two of your friends are on there way to the hospital. Moto 1 was restarted I wasnt riding 100%, and it turns out the bike I was riding had a broken frame, gear problems, and the chain wouldnt stay on for very long. I sadly discovered this last lap. The chain came off while leading with less than 1/4 of a lap to go. My day ended with a DNF and a DNS. Interesting way to end the dirt series season. I ended with the 90cc 2013 Championship! Im pretty impressed since I competed half the season on a stock 90 and the other half on a 70! I couldnt have made it this far without all my sponsors!!! - Yamaha Quad-X Round 7, The Ranch, Ca, 27 Oct 2013 70cc: 2nd A promoter video of the race can be seen here: youtube/watch?v=L_KtZSUXbLA&app=desktop And youtube/watch?v=GO7Qire64kI&app=desktop Wow, is all I have to say. Saturday morning we make the 3 hour drive to The Ranch Mx Park to practice before the race. Once I have all my gear on, the motor starts leaking.. When we take the bike apart we realize 3 studs are broken and one is lodged in my cooling system. The studs broke do to being soft from being over heated last race when I started leaking coolant. Unfortunately we didnt have the right parts at the track. Which means no practice for me. Sunday morning.. We arrive to the track about 2 hours early. Time to set up for Halloween! We wrapped caution tape around the canopy hung glittery spiders and skeletons. Everything seemed fine till we started the bike. We live in a town house which means we cant test the bike anywhere. The night before we checked everything over so this was quite a surprise. We were unable to fix the bike. As you can imagine I was pretty upset. I needed points do to how close the points were. Tremonti Racing to the rescue haha! I was allowed to borrow there 50. Yes I said 50. The same one I rode when I snapped my axle. I cant thank them enough, they would have taken over the 70cc championship if they had not leant me the bike! The first Moto things were a little bit different since I was on the 50. The Ranch has a long uphill start. I was the last one to the first corner. After making a few passes I was up into 2nd place. Its been about a year since Ive rode with stock suspension and having less horse power than my bike, jumping was a lot different than on my bike. I managed to hold 2nd place. Moto 2: Did Somebody Say Candy?? Have you ever received goody bags from a girl dressed as a monster? Haha every one at Quad-X round 7 has. We even had some other people decorate and give out candy too. I got a few funny looks at the starting line. Not really sure why, havent they ever seen someone with claws, horns, and a tail race? :) my start was slightly better this moto and once again after a few passes, I was back up into 2nd place. I wanted to be in that number one spot so bad! Unfortunately I couldnt pull it off. I ended the day with a 2nd place overall. Hopefully next race my bike will be fixed and I can take home the last win of the season! None of this would be possible without you guys! :) - Yamaha Quad-X Round 8, Clen Helen, Ca, 3 Nov 2013 70cc: Moto One 1st, Moto Two: DNS = 3rd A promoter video of the race can be seen here: youtube/watch?v=3i3M4PGuyDM&app=desktop And youtube/watch?feature=m-ch-fea&v=24Ddo72Xy04&app=desktop The final race of the season was an interesting one. I was using a friends motor, so the bike was a little bit different. I didnt practice do the bike issues. Not practicing for once was a little different also because I got to watch everyone else ride, which means I got to see there strong and weak points. Which I cant do very well from on the track. Moto 1: I had the hole shot, and shortly after realized the track was different, I held the lead though. I figured out the track within the first lap, but I could hear second place behind me. In a few corners we got side by side and thats when it really kicked in how close he was. I pushed myself harder. Sometimes theres points when I ride when I dont breathe for a certain amount of time. After getting around a raptor, me and 2nd place battled a little longer and I finished in first. When I got back to the pit and took my helmet off, I tried to take a breath. I couldnt breath and started coughing. In late 2011 I was diagnosed with asthma, though I hadnt had an attack since 6-8 months prior to this race. After 30 minuets of my parents trying to calm me down and rubbing my back. We got the paramedics. They gave me a dose of inebulizer and the coughing stopped. They took my blood pressure then started talking to my parents. They came back and hooked me up to little heart monitors. They told me my blood pressure was dangerously low and I either needed an I.V or to go to the hospital. I dont like needles or hospitals. We cut a deal saying if I drank as much water as I could in 30 minuets and he checked it, I wouldnt have to go. They came back right as everyone was lining up. My numbers were still too low. There goes Moto 2. I ended the day with a 1-DNS and got 3rd overall. I also wrapped up the Quad-X 70cc auto Championship. I couldnt have done it all without my family, friends, and sponsors!!! See you at the starting gate in January!
