Emily Tawater Rush there is no statistical difference between the 9mm, 40 and 45. The 9mm has much less recoil than the other 2 and usually about 2x the magazine capacity. 9mm ammo has also historically been cheaper than the others. With my 9mm and extra mag I can fire 25 rounds without reloading, and the average stop takes 3 rounds in vital areas. So in theory I can take out 8 people very quickly. In reality Ill miss a few times but Im positive I could stop 5 bad guys without reloading. And you can always buy additional magazines. Id seriously consider a 9mm conceal carry handgun. Why carry a 40 or 45 when a 9mm performs just as well and gives you twice the ammo per magazine? I do carry +P hollow points for my 9mm. The +P gives the bullet more speed and kinetic energy. Your gun has to be rated to handle +P and I wouldnt practice with it much, but its a great round! The main thing is get something you are comfortable carrying and shooting, something you wont be afraid to shoot multiple times in a shooting situation, and get something SOON! Yall can come shoot here all you want. You really need to practice gun safety A LOT! Just bring targets and ammo and youll be good to go.
