Emma Watson in her UN speech. I decided I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Apparently I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, anti-men and, unattractive. Who is to blame for this? How many Women out there would be proud to come forward and claim themselves as Feminists? In the context of Telugu literature, a lot of Feminist stories that I came across paint men as animals and even worse. This just defeats the whole purpose and alienates these feminists further. A good cause is sadly lost on a lot of us.
