Emma Watson on auditioning for her role in Harry Potter: I loved the Harry Potter books—I was a massive fan. I just felt like that part belonged to me. I know that sounds crazy, but from that first audition, I always knew. At the beginning, they were casting the other characters as well—but I always knew I was going out for Hermione. She came so naturally to me. Maybe so much of myself at the time was similar to her. Of course, all this terrified my parents—there were literally thousands and thousands of girls going out for the audition, and my parents were anxious about what I would do if I didn’t get it. They were trying to make me stay realistic—but I wasn’t having any of it. I was going to get that part. This is a sweet thing: My dad did a roast on a Sunday, and he gave me the wishbone, and I obviously made the wish that I would get this role. I still have that wishbone upstairs in my jewelry box. Mitchell Perry on Auditioning for his role on Project Runway: I had just went to my friends house after swim practice, their mom made us dinner, and we watched the show. I was hooked. I loved Project Runway since the first episode I saw. I always was like OH MY GAWD I so want to do this. I will be on that show one day. I had a sketch book of my silly drawings, which my roommate saw. She told me I needed to learn how to make the designs because they were amazing and she would wear them. I started school 6 months later School told told me I was one of the best students they had in their program. I was truly passionate, inspired, and inspiring. They would sometimes call me Hollywood. Humble and bashful, I would always smile and keep it moving. I auditioned for the show 1. 2. 3. 4 times. Each getting me one step closer to actually making it. Realistically, I would have auditioned until they said yes. The point I am trying to make is, your dream can happen, but a dream is just a dream until you put it in motion.
