Employment Opportunity Eastern Pennsylvania Division The following Employment opportunity is available: Divisional Director of Development Eastern PA and Delaware Division TITLE: Divisional Director of Development (DDD) REPORTS TO: Divisional Commander SUPERVISES:Directly: Planned Giving Director, Director of Direct Marketing, Grant/Copy Writer, Director of Major Gifts, Fund Raising / PR Consultants, and Administrative Assistant / Office Manager. Indirectly: With the Divisional Staff, the Planned Giving Rep and Planned Giving Assistant, Direct Mail staff, Donor Relations Managers working at DHQ. Consults with and provides training to Corps Officers and other Development Staff who are based at corps and area services jurisdictions operating throughout the Division. And, through the property department, provides direction to the division’s Graphic Designer. GRADE: 19 Exempt STATUS: Full time, 40+ hours/week SCHEDULE: Generally Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends as needed. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Divisional Director of Development is an executive fund raiser responsible for the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Division’s total development program, including the management of department staff, establishing and leading fund raising and communications strategies and goals across all fund raising disciplines, including social service programs, and all corps and 163 service units (2013 counts) located throughout the division to achieve their fund raising, communications, and board development goals. Works to provide and communicate a strong divisional framework of fundraising supports and services for use throughout the division. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Master’s Degree is required. A major in fund raising, organizational / non-profit management, marketing, public relations, business, or related field of study is advantageous, though not required. Other credentials (AFP CFRE, CAP, etc.) are advantageous. Professional Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible, professional fund raising experience across a variety of development areas (e.g. direct mail, major gifts, grants development, planned giving, PR/marketing, campaigns, board engagement). Must have at least two years of major gifts solicitation experience with a documentable track record of success. Successful campaign experience is strongly preferred. Professional Knowledge: Must have a proficient understanding of the various professional disciplines of development (direct marketing, database management, corporate fund raising, foundation and government grants, major gifts, planned gifts, campaigns, PR / marketing / social media, board development / management, United Ways, special events, etc.) and able to provide strategic direction. Should demonstrate ongoing knowledge and skills development through professional education / conference opportunities and reading of professional literature, as well as through ever-increasing development experience...i.e. learning by doing (see above). Must be computer proficient. Valid Driver’s License needed. Relational / Communication Skills: Must have excellent communications skills (verbal, written), able to effectively interact with donors, leadership volunteers, executives and philanthropic decision makers, as well as with internal stakeholders (officers, program staff, other departments, development team). Ability to articulate the annual strategic development plan. Should be able to persuasively and capably articulate the Army’s mission and any case for support, whether in a private face-to-face setting or in a large gathering. Should be accessible and responsive and follow up well. Management Skills: Should demonstrate positive and proactive leadership actions. Ability to capably manage a multi-million operating budget with $25 million+ in goals and to effectively supervise a team of 20+ exempt and non-exempt staff, as well as indirectly supervise corps fund raising staff (across division), without micro managing. Must be well-organized and have excellent people-, time-, information- and project management skills. Must be able to inspire staff and volunteers.
