The program consists of Government and contractor personnel and property involved with a variety of agency operations. TRAVEL REQUIRED: 25% or Greater, Temporary Duty (TDY) 25%. RELOCATION AUTHORIZED: No. KEY REQUIREMENTS: Personnel security investigation required. DUTIES: You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist responsible for conducting field surveys of construction, maintenance and operational activities to help identify existing and potential safety and health hazards. Develop and recommend control measures to resident engineers, project managers, employees and contractors for the purpose of mitigating, if not eliminating, existing or potential hazards. Provide technical and safety advice and investigate accidents as required. Advise design engineers, field representatives and contractors in interpretation and application of various safety and health codes and standards. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: managing safety or occupational health program elements; applying safety and occupational health regulations and procedures to advise on technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; and inspecting or surveying workplaces or processes for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GS-09).
