Employment fraudsters on the loose By dailytimes.ng Dr Ade Abolurin, Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has said that henceforth, anyone caught designing websites of the organisation without authority will be arrested for prosecution. Abolurin gave the warning in Abuja on Wednesday in a statement signed by Emmanuel Okeh, spokesman for the Defence Corps. He said the warning became necessary, following a spate of websites designed by fraudsters to defraud desperate Nigerians seeking jobs in the Defence Corps. “Henceforth, anyone caught. both the giver and the taker, will be treated as common criminals in accordance with the existing laws governing fraud and corrupt practices.’’ The commandant-general said the corps was not recruiting and had no plans to recruit. “The Corps is not recruiting and has no intention to recruit and even when it is to recruit, the process is certainly not through the Internet and websites. “Therefore, all those designing illegal websites for the purpose of recruitment are fraudsters and should desist from such nefariousness with immediate effect. “Ignorance is never an excuse in the law court, therefore, no matter your level of unemployment, if you allow yourself to be duped, the corps will not take responsibility for that and will not allow its name to be dragged into the mud,’’ he said. Abolurin stated that the organisation had warned sufficiently through the mass media that the corps was not recruiting, adding that its recruitment was not for sale. “The corps is urging desperate job seekers to beware of this and ensure they ask questions properly from any of the corps formations whenever they are confronted by these scammers” Abolurin urged job seekers to always get confirmation and verification from the corps’ Public Relations Office of Servicom and at state offices.
