Employment opportunity: Online Content Editor at the Orthodox Union -- What You’ll Be Doing: The Online Content Editor is responsible for the day-to-day management of content on ou.org, the main website of the Orthodox Union. Ensuring that content is compelling and aligned with both user needs and organizational goals is a key part of the Online Content Editor’s role. Excellent Web writing and editorial skills as well as the ability to organize information across a large-scale Web site are critical for success. An understanding of mobile site editorial needs is also very important. The Online Content Editor will be working cross departmentally and collaborating with writers, designers and other staff. Responsibilities include writing and editing original content, repurposing existing content and working with other internal and external content contributors. We’re searching for someone with an entrepreneurial work ethic and attitude who knows how to speak to a digital audience. Our overall goal is to provide meaningful content that engages our online community. -- Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Write original content. Edit and manage content. Build subject matter expertise as well as edit all content for style, web best practices, and SEO. Work closely with SEO team to integrate key search terms to meet organizational and industry goals. Ensure that content conveys organizational identity and messaging while also speaking in the appropriate voice. Build and maintain effective working relationships with web marketing managers, communications team, outside content contributors and various partners to ensure a strong pipeline for content and content resources. Participate in internal and creative meetings as necessary. Provide training on web best practices for stakeholders throughout the organization. Supervise staff writers. -- Your Skills & Experience: 3-5 years professional experience in web editing and/or writing. Must be able to provide writing or editing samples upon request. Intimate knowledge of/or experience with Orthodox Judaism. -- Desired Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing high-quality content specifically for web. Experience in updating and adhering to web style guides. Ability to prioritize work and manage projects on schedule. Familiarity with web publishing tools, including content management systems, and basic understanding of web and web page structure. Experience with SEO (search engine optimization) a plus.
