Empowering Bible Translators in the South Pacific 2/2 Pages Bible translators already working or about to begin their language projects were greatly empowered by a specialized computer training held at the Pacific Theological College’s Jovili Meo Mission Centre in Suva, Fiji on 10-20 March 2014. Facilitating this Integrated Translation and Paratext Workshop were a group of translation consultants and computer experts from the United Bible Societies (UBS). The emphasis placed on Bible translation today focuses on the use of modern technology to speed up the work and get the best translated text. This means that bible translators need to work with computers rather than writing everything on books as a tradition of the past. The use of internet for communication and exchanging resources are very critical in this modern age. Bibles also need to be made available in both the print and electronic forms. The two weeks training was a real boost for our South Pacific bible translators in order to meet their translation goals on time. We thank God for the funding of this important workshop by ETEN (Every Tribe Every Nation) through the United Bible Societies.
