Empowerment for communities through civic Education Wednesday 13, goes into the books of history as one of the greatest days for the people of Makueni and Kenya as a whole. The County today played host to the Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, University of Nairobi Chancellor Dr.Vijoo Rattansi and a host of Top UoN lecturers during the launch of the Elimika Civic education Programme, meant to empower communities to demand good governance, transparent leadrship, and the protection of basic rights and priviledges guaranteed in the constitution. The Civic education programme will be based on the assessment of the current levels of understanding of the constitution to be conducted by a team of Nairobi University lecturers and researchers and students. It should be noted that this is an initiative of UoN, and the County will only come in as a parner. Mutunga, “Counties are doomed without civic education.”
