Emptied a box of undergraduate notes today, from the years 1973-1979. I saved a few things, but most of it was junk, both to me now, but also educationally. So much that I never used in the classroom. The grading was so subjective, no rubrics, no reason for doing it. When I read through the syllabi (syllabuses?) and the comments on papers and exams, it just seemed that the instructors were so subjective about the way they graded and so pompous. But, I guess that was the way higher education was back then, Hopefully, some progress has been made.
