Empty keg toss. The keg toss is a great exercise for improving explosive hip extension and posterior chain strength. After a general warm-up, we usually use the keg toss as our first event. The keg toss acts as a final warm-up exercise and it also excites the nervous system for the more grueling events to follow. All the combat athletes i train do some form of hip extension exercise whether it be a kettlebell swing etc. If you dont ave access to a keg, you can improvise and use a medicine ball, car tyre, a small rock, an old weight plate etc.
