Emptying Self. Life indeed is a journey. And like every journey we embark, we are fully prepared by our creator for every second and minute of our lifes journey. On a good examination of ourselves, we will discover that many qualities we possess are not developed by our abilities in any way; rather, these qualities have been built into us for specific purposes at different points of our lifes journey. Jehovah, our God the Almighty, had set purposes for the use of our various qualities and had also provided avenues for their use. We are like candlesticks and every form of wax in us is intended to keep the candle lit. For when the wax is expended, the candle dies and its work is done. Then, it is empty! Then it has served. Yet, many candles get destroyed without use or get broken or destroyed halfway through use and therefore have the wax wasted. This could never have been the plan of the maker of the candle. He or she must have set out to make it in order to contribute to giving light and will be disappointed to have it come to waste. This is how God, the Almighty, sees us as the works of His hands. We are not to come to waste but to use our God given qualities to light up the darkness in the world. As we expend this qualities, we gradually empty ourselves even as our lives gradually move through our ordained years on earth. It will be worthless to hold anything back and head for the grave with it. In the next second after a last breath, all that we think we own ceases to be ours and if that be so, why do we cease to give or release those good qualities or values that we have been endowed with? Of a certainty, we shall go with nothing and we shall account for all, whether used or unused. If we have loving spirits, let us love; if it is a praying spirit, let us pray for as many as we can; if it is to guide, then let us guide; or if it be to lead, then lead; if it be to help then help; if it be to teach, then teach; if it be to give then give; and it goes on and on. Of what good will it be to return to our maker in a selfish manner by remaining full? O lord, help us to empty ourselves on or lives journey with you for the sake of others like us as others may have done for us in one way or the other, that we may be a light to the world as we also light up the world daily. Amen.
