Encourage Yourself In the latter part of 1Samuel 30:6 it says that David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. This is an invaluable attribute that all Christians need to develop, especially preachers. When a ministry is prospering and successful by being in demand, growing attendance, and financial support its easy to stay motivated and encouraged. However, when you are not favored, attendance is sparse, and finances are in survival mode, discouragement and lack of motivation creeps in. Its in those moments that we must learn to encourage ourselves in the LORD. While we all strive for success just remember that the LORD has called us to faithfulness. Those who remain faithful are successful. Regardless of the size and reach of your ministry, the ease or the tribulations, the success or sacrifice, God will reward your faithfulness. Not all of us have the same gifting’s nor measure of them. Not all are called to the same place nor to the same people. However, we are all called to faithfulness. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. - 1 Corinthians 15:58 SJH
