EndOfYearRant (1) I am not carried away by all that I-will-Fight-Corruption singsong because I know it costs millions of dollars to retain the services of media strategy quartet: Axelrod, Kupper, Plouffe and Del Cecato. It costs BILLIONS of Naira to run a presidential campaign and those financing these campaigns will reap from their investments by hook or by crook. Not even the pope will stop them from recovering their expenses. I know that politicians only care about their self-interest. A politician WILL NEVER do anything that does not directly benefit him and his household. Its always about them, them, them, them. Because I have also learned to be selfish like the politicians, that is why I am insisting on the ISSUES: What do you have for me?... What program do you have that will benefit me and my own household? Its TIT for TAT. If Goodluck Jonathan is indeed surrounded by smart campaigners, they should have known that oil prices (Bonny Light) below $60 per barrel presents a golden opportunity to reduce fuel pump price and wipe fuel subsidies that cost as much as $7 billion a year. Yes, there may be a rebound, but this is election season and every move counts. As of today, low oil prices have taken care of fuel subsidy and ending the subsidies now will be a painless exercise. May we wake tomorrow morning - just like January 1, 2012 when petro-subsidy was abruptly withdrawn - to hear that FG has reduced fuel pump price. If we dont have electricity, Nigerians should at the very least, be able to buy petrol for their generators. This is my EXPO! Daalu nu!
