Endocrinologist Experience Status #1: There are different components to our average endo appointment. She is seen by her care team every three months. She sees the endocrinologist (endo for short... herein referred to as The Wizard), the diabetes nurse, the dietician, usually an endo intern, and if requested or available, a clinician in a counselling capacity. These arent short appointments by any means, and the waiting area has more of a diabetes event feel than medical clinic, between samples, promotional materials and snacks. We see the same faces at these appointments, whether it be staff, or patients and families. We are grateful to be under the care of this team. Truly, they go above and beyond in terms of supporting the need for diabetic support in the elementary school setting. Truly, not all clinics are alike, more of these little patients need medical staff that are willing to be advocates and help change the system for the better.
