Energy Expert with the Centre for Energy Policy, Peter Amewu, has waded into the debate of whether Ghana should suspend the drilling of oil because of the fall in world price. Government in the 2015 budget estimated the price of oil at 99 dollars per barrel. Now that the world price of crude oil has dropped to 44 dollars per barrel, the state is losing in the exploration of oil. There have been calls for Ghana as a minor oil exporter to suspend drilling till the price of crude oil stabilises. Mr. Amewu disagrees with this. He told Radio Ghana that Ghana can still make profit despite the fall in price.
