Effective Communication- is about bridging understanding by conveying the message clearly and unambiguously. The Communication Process Source – speaker or writer or the one initiating the communication process Message - Is the information that you want to communicate in which it has content, style and structure. Encoding – the process of conveying the information that you want to communicate into a form that can be sent and decoded at the other end. To simplify the meaning, it’s just only the process wherein you think or undergo certain situations on how you can give the message clearly and unambiguously. It’s a process where you think of a way to convey the message to eliminate certain sources of confusion. L Channel- Medium of communication used Decoding – the process wherein you try to analize and decode the meaning being encoded. Reciever- the receiver is the one accepting the message, it’s perhaps the targeted audience of the source. Feedback- reactions shown by the receiver to the source. It’s either a verbal o a non-verbal feedback. Context- the situation in which your message is delivered. Listening Listening – is the most critical element in communication and language learning. Listening is used three times much as speaking and four times much in writing. Only 25-50% of what they hear can be retained by an average person. • Sit close to the speaker • Anticipate what you hear • Consider your knowledge about the topic. • Be clear about you purpose in listening • Stay alert and keep your mind from wandering. • Take notes of pertinent informations • Focus on the content • Listen to main points • Be aware of non-verbal clues like chages in tone and pitch, stresses and pauses Workplace communication Category/Two main types: External communication – communicating outside of the organizationwioth costumers, clients etc. Internal communication – communication inside the organization either with superiors and colleagues. Types of Communication: Verbal Communication – use of words to convey the message, it’s either oral or written. Oral Communication – communication by mouth, involves speaking to each other. Written Communication- a type of communication wherein the medium used is in a written format. Non Verbal Communication – Communicating without the use of words. Symbols – is simply the use of signage which conveys a thought or meaning. Singnals – is something that communicates message and instructions. Gestures – movements that is used to indicate a message Body language – shows emotions and attitudes by what a certain person do with his hands, arms, legs, and faces.
