Engagement Party....Prep.. the moss was settling in beautifully.. the menu was chosen... a trip to the store was next.. honestly... in the woods we are so far from any kind of real stores... that Walmart is our choice...our only choice.. but the fact is... that I love shopping and creating so much I really dont care.. I can make it happen anywhere..my personal addiction..:) Off to Walmart with the grocery list in hand and our vision ...we went... Lauren ..Courtenay and of course the event planner....meeeee!! We are always amazed at the Walmart store and the things that go on in that space... we pushed our carts around the store filled them checked out ...and loaded the car and smiled all the way home!! Tyler and I had to go one more time to fill our carts with white candles and materials etc..long torturous but well worth it once we got back to the safety of the woods..drink in hand and dinner cooking.. The day before ..Monica ...Courtenays Aunt...my sister-in-law...painstakingly hand washed all the champagne glasses and dishes.. and helped fill in all the silverware needs from her personal stash.. We all were riding the high of what was to be!!! and the magical TEAM work!! Lauren sat down and created two amazing photo collages.., one of Courtenay since birth at merriewold and one for Nick tooo... also, a combined one..with all of their friends and relatives within merriewold.. We put on the front porch in the window...surrounded with the famous pine branches of the woods... Waking up the day of an event is the BEST electrical feeling ever!!! My whole family knows ..we have lots to do.. no questions we just begin doing...creating...and are everso productive... Events are our thing!!! The kitchen awakens with Courtenay creating the dough for the mini slider buns ..Tyler overseeing the progress... coffee brewing...family begins to stir and come alive..Mason ready!! The men are working on the treehouse.. Uncle Schmoo comes to inspect... and has a crew come take down a dead tree in the yard..sweet..and exciting.. The weather prediction ..rain in the early evening...sooooo a tent is secured...Peter runs to pick it up.. love the fact... when it appears.. blue and white stripes!! holes and all!! lol!!! I love changes...and the adaptation.. In the meantime... furniture is being placed in designated places... and a family team assembles to erect the tent..After its been put up...I hand them my art duct tape... to plug the holes in the ceiling.. it became quite colorfully fun...Fairy lights adorn the tent... and sides... so excited!! My lifes motto...nothing is perfect nor should be... family creates through love and combined vision.. The imperfections of LIFE are the true pulse of life connected!! I sent family out to collect flowers and greenery to be used to decorate the tent...and to get eclairs...from my fave bakery in town., Nick hung all the hummingbird feeders...with success...as the hummingbirds all began to gather round.., Peter began to hang chandeliers in the tent ...I was right behind him adding flowers and greenery.. BTW it was in the 90s and jungle like humidity... all adding to the heat of the magic of the day... The kitchen was crazy with cutting..cooking...heat from the ovens and tons of smiles...drinking..and cynicism... THEN there was a moment... Court and I appeared on the front veranda by chance...and looked at each other squeezed each others hands ...unspoken words of OMG!! and said this is happening!!!smiles with tears.. We had everything in place and family all dressed and people began to arrive.. The overwhelming part to all of this was the incredible sense that everyone had a hand in this.. everyone helped create and put together this party.. of love..There were no strangers...that everyone and I mean everyone was present and aware and felt a part of the happening.. This simple statement is my objective my way of life...that each individual feel connected important and part of something.. loved and cared for.. every person is important at Loveshack!! Peter did his welcome to the family speech...as we all passed the champagne filled glasses..we toasted the hawvermales so so happy to have them as family and he acknowledged other family engagements of brigid brown our cousin and meredith another cousin... The evening was filled with complete happiness and joy for the joining of two merriewold babies... xoxo ps...we brought the two great grandmother benches to the end of the aisle... grandma Polly and Hope included in our celebration...a great honor!! thank you susan for the idea!! perfection ..
