England’s World Cup Downfall Gives Zambian FA Reason to Rejoice A ‘keyboard excited’ FAZ official handling the body’s twitter account last night wrote; “very Happy that England has lost. I wonder who they will blame………….” The message was an attempt to hit back at British media whose Sunday Times recently exposed FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya as one of the 30 African football heads who allegedly received bribes from disgraced former FIFA vice-president Mohammend Bin Hammam of Qatar. According to the Sunday Times report which published emails and others documents, Kalusha got US $80, 000 which funds were distributed to boost Qatar’s 2022 World Cup bid as well as Bin Hammam’s failed plans to challenge Sepp Blatter at the helm of FIFA in the 2011 elections. Kalusha admitted to local media of receiving the alleged bribes but claimed he only got US$50, 000 which was a debt for the association but there is no trace in the FAZ accounts the money was remitted. FAZ and their “praise singers” say the expose by the English media were sour grapes for “bitterly” losing the 2022 World Cup bid but they are conveniently failing to admit corruption influenced most FIFA decisions. The recent tweet by FAZ is inspired by their displeasure following the damning reports that has called for investigations into Kalusha’s professional conduct. However, the tweet received massive backlash with many on social media calling for sanctions on whoever posted the message. The message was deleted five hours later but screenshots had already gone viral.
