English Translation of Al-Quran [29].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider] Ayat 14. And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he stayed among them a thousand years less fifty years [inviting them to believe in the Oneness of Allah (Monotheism), and discard the false gods and other deities], and the Deluge overtook them while they were Zalimun (wrong-doers, polytheists, disbelievers, etc.). Ayat 15. Then Allah saved him and those with him in the ship, and made it (the ship) as an Ayah (a lesson, a warning, etc.) for the Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 14 & 15. Allah (once) sent Noah to his people, and he tarried among them a thousand years less fifty: but the Deluge overwhelmed them while they (persisted in) sin. The story of Noah and his Flood is not told here. It is told in other places: e.g., see 11:25 -48 or 26:105-122- His only referred to here to point out that Noahs period lasted a long time, 950 years. (Cf. Gen. 9:28-29, where his whole age is declared to have been 950 years, of which 350 years were after the Flood). In spite of this long period, his contemporaries failed to listen, and they were destroyed but the story of the Ark remains an everlasting Sign and Warning to mankind-a Sign of deliverance to the righteous and of destruction to the wicked. 15. But Allah saved him and the companions of the Ark, and Allah made the (Ark) a Sign for all peoples!
