English departments in DU colleges for all their pretensions of being progressive and liberal are also utterly casteist, Modi-loving and homophobic. Most permanent teachers are upper-castes and the treatment they mete out to Dalit teachers is disgustingly condescending. Upper-caste teachers who form the panel for interviews behave like they have done some great favour by taking in candidates through reservation (even though some of these candidates are extremely meritorious). #conversationwithfriends
