Enjoy an afternoon of blues at the 5th annual Beacon Hill Blues Festival starting at 1:30 p.m. on June 29 at 188 Beacon Hill Lane south of Ashland. See ashlandblues.org for more information. It stars Portland’s Kevin Selfe and the Tordadoes, the Karen Lovely Band, and the Rogue Valley Blues All-Stars featuring David Pinsky, Broadway Phil Newton and members of their respective bands. Their set concludes with a four-harp harmonica blowoff. The festival is at 188 Beacon Hill Lane off the Old Siskiyou Highway between Emigrant Lake and the Siskiyou Summit. Take Highway 66 south out of Ashland, past the lake, and turn right on Old Siskiyou Highway. Look for festival signs at the spot where the highway loops back over itself, and turn right. Then follow the signs. As always, there will be BBQ, Thai food, beer, wine and soft drinks, and plenty of shade canopies and misters if it gets hot. This is the annual fundraiser for the Ashland Blues Society, a nonprofit organization that runs the Tuesday blues jams at Howiee’s on Front, in Medford.
