Enjoying my new part time job at Holiday Inn driving the courtesy shuttle because I meet a lot of interesting people. This short conversation last night with a guest keeps playing thru my mind though. I was standing outside the entrance when I struck up a conversation with an man in his early 60s. He was raised in Des Moines but now lives in Minneapolis. I inquired about what he was doing back in Des Moines for the weekend and he said I came to put my oldest brother in hospice care. He then went on to talk about how he and his brother always had planned to do so many things SOMEDAY but now someday is gone. His brother was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last summer, got treatment for it, and it was in remission. Early this week his brother had a heart attack and doctors discovered his heart was failing and that he wouldnt live much longer. The guy stood there with tears in his eyes and said Id give up everything to have one SOMEDAY with him. All morning Ive been thinking about how we get wrapped up in all the menial little stupid things of daily life that we assume are so important and before we know it our SOMEDAY is gone too. Whats on your SOMEDAY list.
