Enjoying the nice weather on the front porch! It’s been a busy week around here and Prince just keeps showing what a star he is. Let’s start with the really good news, he has been without a belly band all week and he has not awakened us in the morning all week! He has started going to the door to go out and in the mornings, even though I can hear him moving around a little he’s not whining and making a fuss to get going. When I open his kennel I give him a good rubdown before he runs off to find Vikki in the kitchen. Next he and Rocco do a meet & greet (they have to sniff each other over very carefully in case we switched one out during the night) before they assemble at the front door to tear out like they are racing, only in different directions. We had a temporary poodle guest here this week that was very unbalanced and it effected Prince more than I thought it would. It threw him off for a couple of days and while his behavior toward the visitor was good, he was definitely off his norm. He was off his food for a day, didn’t play and was generally edgy. He did calm eventually, warming up to our guest as our guest began to calm a bit, but it illustrates that dogs all deal with change differently. We have been giving Prince (and now Rocco since he wants a morning treat too) a teaspoon of olive oil (with a few drops of heavy cream) daily for 2 weeks. It’s a bit subjective, but we think his coat is improving. The big deal is that he is generally scratching less than he had been so it seems to be helping. It is with very mixed emotions that I announce Prince is now ready for adoption. Mixed because I would love nothing more than to see him go off to his perfect forever home…it’s hard to say goodbye to them all but entire household is going to miss this boy.
