Enough of Muzaata and Munyagwa; now to the Magistrate abusing - TopicsExpress

Enough of Muzaata and Munyagwa; now to the Magistrate abusing Islamic attire-I think we have given Muzaata and Munyagwa enough time. Now let us discuss what to do about the Magistrate who is forcing Muslims to take off their attire. There are many things we can do. We can write to the attorney general, we can persuade to the Muftis to compose a joint delegation to the President, Different organisations including UMYA, UMSC, IMAU, UMPro, etc could issue a joint statement, etc. We must do something. These are issues that affect all of us, whatever views we might hold on issues of leadership. By the way, even Mufti Mubajje abuses fellow Muslims.I have told before that you are presenting the issue as if the Old Kampala guys are angles. It is irritating, because abusing is bad by whoever it is done. Sometime in 2007 or 2008, I attended a dua in a village in Mukono district, presided over by Mufti Mubajje. I was there for family reasons. Haji Jumba Masagazi had been invited there as an elder in the area by the children of the deceased. When Mufti Mubajje stood up to speak, he spent most of his time abusing Jumba, telling him how Kibuli people do not think, how many of them were educated in Luzungu but they were educated fools, how they had written the constitution for themselves but were unhappy that they (the Old Kampala people) were now the ones enjoying it. He even reminded him that he had served during Amins regime but had not learnt any lessons because if they were giving this kind of trouble during Amins time, they would have seen. He said many other dirty things that I am even ashamed to repeat here. People were shocked at how a leader can abuse an elder face to face, and in public, without provocation, and one who had also been invited by the organisers. Moreover a senior member of the community of Jumba Masagazis status. The hosts apologised to Jumba Masaazi, but he was too angry to even eat the food they served. If anyone wants to verify this story, you can ask Jumba himself. He has never forgotten; and Mubajje has never apologised. You could even ask your Mubajje about it; but may be some of you think he did right? Uthman ibn uthman Katende.
