Ensol Update - Bosnia Herzegovina Look to Improve Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings THE Bosnia Herzegovina Environmental Fund and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has signed an agreement to improve energy efficiency in the country’s public buildings. The two organizations are planning to implement an energy management and audit system in 400 buildings throughout the republic, including education institutions, hospitals, municipal administration buildings and others. The organizations are set to conduct extensive energy audits in 11 public buildings over the next few weeks, which will provide a bench mark for the savings available from the energy efficiency measures taken. This will be followed by another 30 buildings receiving the same treatment, selected based on the greatest economic, energy, environmental and social relevance. The Fund and UNDP will also be looking to raise awareness for the benefits of energy efficiency, which has been a challenge for the government. This is furtherance of the work performed in this field already by the UNDP in Bosnia. They have already backed 38 energy efficiency projects worth $3.8 million producing annual savings in energy costs of around $700,000.
