Entering the Presence of the Lord: let us draw near. We have the tremendous privilege of remembering our Saviour this morning. We looked last week at the significance of the High Priest wearing on his forehead the plate of pure gold inscribed with the words, “Holy to the Lord” [Exodus 28: 36]. These chapters emphasize that being in the Presence of the Lord, especially in the Holy Place, was no light matter but required much spiritual preparation. Other parts of the beautiful garments illustrate the representation he made for the people. Memorial stones with the names of the tribes of Israel were on his shoulders, the place of strength and on a breastplate, over his heart, the place of affection. All his strength and affection were involved as he was before God on behalf of the Nation. [6 to30]. For us today, “..since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new a living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body, and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith ..
