Entrepreneurship Talk with Koketso Thibathiba: WHERE ARE THE GREATEST OPPORTUNITIES in SA? Before I answer this question- Let’s go back to the basics first: Entrepreneurship is about identifying a specific NEED and coming up with an idea to fulfil it. The moment you have managed to commercialise that idea, then you have definitely turned it into an opportunity. SIMPLY PUT, ENTREPRENEURS ARE THERE TO SERVE PEOPLE. We are there to SERVE A SOLUTION to a problem. We are there to SERVE A BETTER WAY of life. We are there to SERVE A QUICKER WAY to get it done. We are there to SERVE PLEASURE and ENTERTAINMENT. WE ARE THERE TO SERVE OUR CLIENTS AND CUSTOMERS WITH GREAT EXCITEMENT BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THEY HAVE OUR MONEY IN THEIR POCKETS Never lose the attitude of being a SERVANT, no matter how BIG you make it. My topic today is: WHERE ARE THE GREATEST OPPORTUNITIES in SA for entrepreneurship? One answer: TOWNSHIPS! Let us not get too excited about doing business in DEVELOPED SANDTON that we end up missing the opportunities in DEVELOPING MAMELODI. I don’t want to go where THE BIG SHOT entrepreneurs are already ESTABLISHED, I WANT MY OWN TERRITORY. I am not afraid of competition, I just understand that the GREATEST OPPORTUNITIES LIE WHERE DEVELOPMENT is LACKING or is in PROGRESS. Our townships are the BEST PLACES TO START because those are the best places to make MISTAKES as a START-UP entrepreneur. YOUR MISTAKES WON’T COST YOU A LOT OF MONEY. The plan is to start in my township and then end up CONQUERING AFRICA, and that I will do! I don’t want to see a person outside our township EXPLOITING OUR OPPORTUNITIES, think about it fellow entrepreneur. Have a productive day not just working IN your business but working ON it as well, in other words take time to REFLECT, ANALYSE and PLAN. Thank you :-)
