Entry from my journal last week: That feeling of absolute awe - TopicsExpress

Entry from my journal last week: That feeling of absolute awe when you see something so beautiful as these New Zealand mountains and countryside. Easily comparable to the first time I set eyes on the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Badlands in South Dakota or the mountains of Colorado. That feeling of breathlessness and inspiration; your pupils growing wide in an attempt to capture its beauty. Your mind goes numb. All other thoughts drift into your subconscious and you find yourself thinking big-picture thoughts such as why were here or where we came from. You take a picture, but you know its useless. Its too big, no, too EMOTIONAL to capture. It simply cant be caught; and its captivating spell can only be experienced by those who make the drive, flight or hike to get here. Its these views that have caused men to die; to uproot their families and walk hundreds or thousands of miles in hope of a better life. The spell is apparent even here in this journal, as i opened it only to write a few sentences yet ink still spills from my pen. Misty-hazy wonderful blues and the puffiest and whitest of clouds meets snow and rock in a majestic collision that gives way to a never-ending valley of green rolling hills; and you think to yourself: Not everyone will make the journey to see this, and for that I am deeply disappointed.
