Environmental Conservation Volunteer Nari Sohn in Paraguay helped her community plan and construct an Eco-Parque (Eco-Playground) using recycled materials, tires and plastic bottles. There were eco-brick making sessions too. A local NGO donated paint, regular bricks and cement as well. Ultimately, over 80 eco-bricks were made which was good enough for building two “eco-benches,” and the group collected about 30 tires. The tires were used as a play area for the children and as planters for trees and flowers. A swing set was also installed. Today forty students and other community children have a safe place to play and have fun during and after classes, all thanks to the “trash” they found around the neighborhood.
