Environmental studies : environmental studies is the study of systematic description of different components of environment % interactions of man with thesese components. the four major spheres of the environnents are : lithosphere : the lithosphere consists of the solid crust on which the continental masses comprising of mountains, valley & plain exist. the earths surface supports humans, other terrestral animals & plants. hydrosphere : the waters of the earth mostly consisting of oceans, lakes river and glaciers composed the hydrosphere the oceans & seas cover 7/10 of the earths surface. around 97 % of the total water supply on earth are hold in the oceans and seas, while the rest 3% is freshwater. atmosphere: is the gaseous layer covering the earth. the main constituents are nitrogen 78% oxygen 21% and some other gases. it consists of different strata while the nearest stratum is the troposphere. climatic conditions affecting the earth occur within this layer. this layer extends upto 15km above the earths surface. the layer above stratosphere mesophere in which temperature again decreases with altitude. the outermost layer known as lonosphere extends over km into the space and is exposed to radiation from uhe other extratersestrial bodies. biosphere : terrestrial and aquatic living organisms that inhabit the altogether form the biosphere. living organisms include both flora (plant species) and (animal) fona of land and water. the biotic components interact each other with their physical environment known as the ecosystem.
