Envoys brief President Kenyatta on South Sudan peace talks NAIROBI, 18 Oct 2014 (PSCU) – President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Nairobi held talks with Gen. Lazarus Sumbeiywo and Amb. Seyoum Mesfin of Ethiopia, who briefed him on the status of the South Sudan peace negotiations. The Kenyan envoy to the South Sudan peace process and his Ethiopian counterpart assured President Kenyatta that a lot of progress has been made in the efforts to restore peace in Africa’s youngest nation. “There is light at the end of the tunnel and the negotiations have entered the final stages where we hope for positive outcome,” Gen. Sumbeiywo said. President Kenyatta commended Gen. Sumbeiywo and Amb. Mesfin for their diligence. He affirmed Kenya’s commitment to a speedy resolution of the South Sudan conflict.
