Epic rant ON: As you may or may not recall, two weeks ago I was modestly annoyed because I got dragged into a divorced couples child custody case even though my contribution to the case would be minimal at most. I was told to report to the Okaloosa County courthouse at 8:30 today, so I cancelled all my morning patients. Then on Friday, less than 72 hours before the date, the court notified me that the docket changed and I needed to be there for 1:00 PM. So the aforementioned afternoon patients were scratched. I did see a few patients this morning, but obviously, the short notice ensured filling the morning schedule would be challenging. So just a bit ago, as Im getting ready to run the traffic gauntlet in Destin and FWB to get to the courthouse, the court was kind enough to notify me my expertise was no longer needed, that the couple had come to some sort of agreement. So here I sit, afternoon is shot, the morning was a waste...this is a huge inconvenience for several patients and is costing me money!!! I plan on firing off letters to the attorney that was so gung-ho about me going to the proceeding and the Judge, John Jay Gontarek, how crappy they are. I think Im going to send them a bill, too, for about six hours of lost income. Rant off! Thanks for listening.
