Epiloque North Thailand/Myammar 2014 9th Dec - 22nd Dec An initial 14D trip cut down to 13D trip. Was a highly memorable trip for me. It was a trip that I get to put my new iron horse (BMW R1200 GS Adv) to test on long distance riding. It was not the first long distance ride for me but it was for my workhorse which i have just recently procured in March 2014. This is also the first water-cooled bmw boxer engine bike that I am riding compared to the previous oil/air cooled 2007 model of BMW R1200 GS Adv. Bike handles well in all sorts of situation and condition from mountainous terrain to cold condition. Total distance covered was 6670km with the major highlights included walking on the historical bridge of River Kwai in Kanchanaburi my first visit to the city of Tachilek, Shan State, Myanmar(Burma), 1684 curves of Mae Hong Son(761 Pai), the infamous Golden Triangle, Golden temple of Nan, White Temple of Wat Rongkun in Chiamg Rai, Mountain peaks of Phu Chi Fa, Doi Ithanon and Phu Tab Berk, visiting the historical world UNESCO site of Ayutthaya and ending it of with a camp out at Kaeng Krachan National Park. To top it off I took on the Iron Butt Association Saddlesore challenge to complete 1600km in 24 hours. This was done on my way back home. Have always loved my rides throughout thailand due to the scenery, people and safety. Never had to worry about leaving your helmets or bags at your bike while you go anywhere. People are so humble yet helpful and polite, always welcoming you to their country. They are proud and happy that you are there to visit their places of interest within their country. Definitely will return to explore other regions of thailand (North - East / East). Let the exploration continues.........
