At 3:28am on August 17th, a magnitude of 7.9 earthquakes was measured by the regional Geological Survey. The earthquake itself was felt throughout the region and most of the far east islands. The epicenter was determined to be directly beneath Littleroot. When law enforcement arrived at what should have been the outskirts of the little town, they found a smoldering, burning fissure in the earth measuring 1,000 yards in length approximately 500 yards in depth. The actual depth was never determined. After twelve days, the state-wide and local search for the missing 679 residents of Littleroot, Oldale Town, Petalburg City, and Rustboro City, was called off by officials. All 679 civilians were assumed to be dead. Again, at 2:27am August 30 another earthquake had stricken the Hoenn Region. After officials had arrived to the scene they were met with only a closing in the Earth from what had been a fissure. In the eight days leading up to the disappearance of towns and their civilians, bizarre and unexplainable events were reported by dozens of residents in Hoenn and law enforcement. These claims all reported sightings of a humanoid being appearing only momentarily before being blinded by a flash, and after regaining their vision, being met with no trace of civilization.
