Epitome of Cheating in Insurance Sector -Careful ! Recently my wife received a call from New Delhi, from a leading Insurance organization, the guy on the other side had a beautiful polished voice and informed that he was a senior General Manager and he was surprised to ask why my wife wanted to cancel her High Risk Insurance Scheme after paying 5 years in stretch (Amount was Rs.1 Lakh per annum) and if she paid this year ie; 6 years in continuous , then next year onwards the company will pay for the next 14 years till it matures. This guy had all the details of her policy and also about the Bangalore agency where she had invested in this scheme. My wife was shocked to hear this and said she did not cancel any policy. Then he mentioned that it was her local agent who had cancelled with her consent, and she will lose all the money she had invested since last 5 years, but the agent will get 30% of the 5 years policy . He also asked her not to contact her agent, which she followed. Next day, he asked her to take a policy for Rs 25,000 and cancel it after 15 days,which she did and got the policy within 5 days time and was genuine. He said that she will get her dividend of Rs. 3.78 lakhs in 15 days and she should not inform the local agent. We waited for 15 days and we got a call from somebody from RBI asking for our PAN # and bank details , for transferring the money as advised by the Delhi guy. He asked my wife to deposit Rs. 70,000 in the bank account given by him before that day evening 4 PM and this is for 2 policies of Rs. 35, 000 each, my wife was in a hurry and she did not have that money, so she wanted to borrow it from me. She checked with this Delhi Guy Subhash and he also endorsed that it is an Agent of RBI and trust him to pay Rs. 70,000 for 2 policies. Meanwhile, my wife stated all the happenings to me and somewhere i got a Eureka- hint on the RBI agent asking her How much money you have in your bank ? and immediately how much you can withdraw ? , i smelt something was fishy. Immediately we checked with an Insurance consultant and came to know that this is a high tech fraudsters in prowl nowadays and they target high valued policies after getting informations from Insurance staff and agents. For our luck, we did not pay any money to these fraudsters, and we immediately met the Insurance Company Officers and gave in writing that without our acceptance they should not cancel the Policies invested by us. Fortunately, our policy is intact even today! The only thing we had of both the Delhi fraudsters were only their 3 mobile numbers & no email / mail or address . We were told by the MNC insurance officials that this is a Million Dollar Fraud business going on and few insiders are hand in glove. Caution : if you get a call of similar in type, immediately visit your Insurance company and give in writing not to cancel your policy till your approval is taken. To our guidance Tirupati Lord Balaji was with us that day and that hint of how much cash balance we had in bank made us smell that something was really wrong.
