#Equality between women and men is a fundamental value of the #EU and is vital to its economic and social growth. To reach the objectives set by the EU in the #Europe2020 #growth strategy and achieve smart and sustainable #development, #gender equality has to have a pivotal role in the political debate in Europe. Despite 50 years of policies and actions at European level, Member States have not managed to achieve gender equality. The first Gender Equality Index that measures gender equality in the #EU context is out! It is a tool to support gender equality policies and that will measure the progress made by Member States in reaching greater #gender equality (‘equal share of assets and equal dignity and integrity between women and men’).
