Equine Herpes Virus outbreak in Renfrewshire The Animal Health Trust have confirmed an outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus 1,4 in Renfrewshire. This is rare for Scotland. In light of the outbreak we recommend all horse/pony and donkey owners strongly consider vaccinating against this potentially serious disease which can result in respiratory and neurological disease. The vaccination is given via two injections, 4 weeks apart. Vaccinating your horse will not only prevent the spread of the disease but will help reduce the severity of the symptoms your horse could experience if exposed to the disease. Prompt vaccination is advised and we will endeavour to action all vaccination requested as quickly as possible.
