Erc Oscotech Chapter with Oscotech Real On campus this week: • Faculty of Science presents her first orientation program this thursday • Senators not happy with propose examination date • Union building not yet open • SUG shuttle bus turns private use? • Faculty of Science presents her first orientation program this thursday The National Association of Science Students(NASS) of Faculty of Science will on Thursday, 31st of July, 2014 stage her first orientation program. Faculty of Science is the newest faculty in Osun State College of Technology(OSCOTECH) Esa-oke. We can recalled that late last year Faculty of Science was Established with three main departments; comprises of Departments of Computer Science, Statistics which was extracted from former Faculty of Engineering and the new Department of Science Laboratory Technology(SLT). National Association of Science Students(NASS) has three main branches which are National Association of Computer Science Students(NACOSS), National Association of Science Technology Students(NASTES) and Association of Statistics Students of Nigeria(ASSON). The category of leadership run under this student associations which can be related to democratic socialism make it an history making among others on campus. The program is expected to kick off at 8.00am prompt at Owa miran Hall will be graced by the Dean of the Faculty; Pst V.A. Adewoyin, the HODs of the three Departments, Faculty Officers, Directorates and all lecturers of the faculty. Student leaders, SUG VP & Senators, Departmental presidents, Paramilitary leaders and all Change seekers Comrades are also expected to be on ground. • Senators not happy with propose examination date Information reaching us has confirmed the displeasure of some members of the Students Representative Council(SRC) and Students Union Executive(SUE) against the proposed Examination date which was last week scheduled between 18-8-2014 ---- 26-8-2014 for HNDII. This is expected to be a plus for the NYSC mobilization of the out-going HND students after the academic activities has been affected with 5months old shut down. According to gathered analyzes will only give the students a limited days of preparation which may also affect the performance of the students. Though the SRC havent have any official sitting about this for proper debates so far but the majority of students expects an official release from the Students Executive Council this week. We urge students to link up with their senators to express their opinion concerning this matter for a proper decision. • Union building not yet Re-opened Exactly 2 weeks after the suspension of the 5months old strike; the SUG building has not been re-opened. The offices of the students union executives was totally closed down for the first Two weeks of resumption. This is believed to paralyzed all serious activities of the Union for two weeks and not be of help to the part of the students. Meanwhile, we expect the re-open of the Union Building for complains and discussion on crucial development on campus. • SUG shuttle bus turns private use? The new Student Union Shuttle bus popularly known as TaTan have not been used for its official purpose but instead been a private transport property to a member of the Students Representative Council. The bus which is meant for the transport welfare of the students and handled by the Office of the SUG Welfare Director or the Commissioner of Transport at the Students Representative Council is popularly known by majority of the student as a private bus of a particular senator as his cruising equipment. Students who spoke with our correspondent last week said the bus is suppose to be at a service to the students while some said the parking space of the bus have not been anywhere located on campus.
