Eric Bobo: Now here is one of my favorite albums that my father played on. This was actually my dads first album being featured primarily as a drummer. This was recorded back in 1963!! I remember this album being in the collection but it was unplayable. Why? Well, when I was a baby, one thing that would calm me down was when my mother would put me in front of the turntable so I could watch it spin. When I was able to get my hans on the record, I would take out the vinyl, put it on the floor and spin it like it was on the turntable. Needless to say, I ruined a lot of classic records like this. My mom wanted to kill me but my dad was like let him do it, its ok. For you record collectors out there, you would die knowing which classic albums I completely ruined that would be collectors items now. This album was one of those albums. I didnt get to hear it until the mid 70s when it was reissued on Blue Note as Herbie Hancock & Willie Bobo - Succotash. When I first heard it, I was amazed and to hear my dad playing jazz drums was a treat. It is one of my all time favorite jazz albums and its a must for your collection. Enjoy the sounds!!
